Loxton’s leafy riverfront, home to the Tree of Knowledge marking historic flood heights and easy riverside walking trails.
Wrapped in a horseshoe bend, Loxton’s riverfront is one of the prettiest town frontages in the Riverland. The famous Tree of Knowledge - a river red gum on the bank - carries markers showing the heights reached by the Murray’s great floods, including the devastating 1956 event. Walking and cycling trails follow the river past the caravan park and on toward the Historical Village, shaded by towering gums and alive with birdsong. It’s a gentle, scenic introduction to the garden city of the Riverland.
