Loxton Historical Village
A pioneer village brought back to life
A re-created pioneer settlement of more than 45 buildings on the Loxton riverfront, staffed and furnished as it was a century ago.
The Loxton Historical Village is one of South Australia’s best open-air museums. More than 45 buildings — a blacksmith, bakery, school, churches, shops, homes and a railway station — have been gathered or re-created on the riverfront to show how Riverland pioneers lived and worked. Many are furnished with original objects and staffed by volunteers who bring the era to life. It’s an immersive, family-friendly walk through the settlement years, set in a lovely bend of the river that makes the whole village feel like a step back in time.
