Wilabalangaloo Reserve
Heritage homestead and bushland above the Berri cliffs
On the cliffs above Berri, Wilabalangaloo Reserve brings together two of the Riverland's great themes — pioneer heritage and river bushland — on one cliff-top property. The reserve is run by the local National Trust branch and centres on a historic homestead and museum.
Walking tracks lead out from the homestead through native scrub to lookouts over the Murray, where the floodplain spreads out below in a patchwork of channels and red gum. It's a fine spot to combine a short bushwalk with a dose of local history.
The homestead and grounds tell the story of early settlement on this stretch of the river, while the surrounding bush gives a sense of the country as it was before the orchards and vines arrived. It's an easy, rewarding stop just outside Berri.
