Katarapko Creek Canoe Trail
A marked paddling trail through the red-gum creeks of Katarapko, deep in Murray River National Park.
Within the Katarapko section of Murray River National Park, a network of anabranch creeks loops away from the main river through some of the loveliest red-gum country in the Riverland. A marked canoe trail lets paddlers explore the quiet backwaters, gliding past drowned timber, basking turtles and overhanging gums alive with birds.
It's an immersive, low-effort way into the floodplain — flatwater paddling with frequent landings, bush camping along the banks and the constant company of wildlife. Carp may swirl beneath your hull and a sea-eagle might track you overhead. For many, a day on Katarapko's creeks is the highlight of a Riverland trip.
