Loxton's riverfront is one of the friendliest in the Riverland, and the playground is its centrepiece for families. Set on lawns beside the river and a short stroll from the famous Tree of Knowledge flood-marker gum, it makes an easy, shaded stop on any river-town tour.
There's play equipment for younger children, plenty of grass for a picnic rug and a flat riverside path that links to the historical village and the town centre. Big river red gums throw welcome shade across the lawns in summer.
Pair it with a wander through the Loxton Historical Village or a coffee in the main street, and you have a relaxed half-day that suits all ages.
