Hart Lagoon
A restored Barmera wetland and birdwatching site with an easy interpretive walking loop.
Hart Lagoon is a community conservation success story on the edge of Barmera. Once degraded, it has been reworked with managed water regimes and is now one of the most reliable birdwatching wetlands in the central Riverland.
An easy walking loop and bird hide let you watch without disturbing. Depending on water levels you might tick off egrets, spoonbills, ibis, crakes and a swirl of ducks, with the lagoon at its best when it's drawing down and concentrating the birds.
It's a short, gentle outing — perfect early morning before the heat, or as a stop on the way around Lake Bonney.
